JOB POSITIONS WITH IBFAN AFRICA
1. REGIONAL COORDINATOR
1. Job Title: Regional Coordinator
2. Grade: R4
3. Level: Chief Executive
4. Location: Mbabane, Swaziland-with possibility to move to Nairobi-Kenya; or Pretoria
and Johannesburg-South Africa.
5. Duration: On contract of 3 years, renewable once.
6. Reporting to: IBFAN Africa Ex. Committee (IAEC)
7. Requirements:
A post-graduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field-public health, medicine, nutrition and social science; post Graduate degree in nutrition, Health, Social Sciences or related field.
Extensive management experience at senior management level, of not less than 6 years.
Excellent communication and interpersonal and project management and/coordination skills.
Evidence of previous project management within an NGO or CBO environment of not less than 3 years.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal ,managerial skills and a team player.
Have knowledge of all aspects of project: budgets, planning, reporting, project implementation plans, cycle management and monitoring and evaluation.
Have computer literacy (Power Point, MS Excel, MS Word and Internet).
A keen interest and good understanding of IBFAN’s cause and regional work.
A valid driver’s license and ability to handle pressure at any given time.

Responsibilities: Under the direction and general supervision of the IAEC
RC is the Chief Executive and accounting officer of the organization. She/he is responsible for the day to day administration and supervision of the Regional Office and overall coordination of IBFAN Africa’s activities in promoting breastfeeding and appropriate infant and young child feeding practices in Africa. Specific duties include:-
Programme planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation
Liaising with sub-regional and national coordinators on breastfeeding and infant/young child feeding practices/ activities.
Fundraising and budgeting;
Preparation of periodic reports to the IAAC and donors;
Represent IBFAN Africa at approved international meetings, conferences or workshops;
Provide general support to member countries in programme planning;
organize training courses, seminars or workshops on breastfeeding and infant and young child feeding;
Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders;
Maintain a good working relationship with the Government in the host country;
Perform any other duties that may be assigned to her/him from time to time by the IEC.
9. Salary: Negotiable according to qualifications and experience.
10: Commencement date: 1 October 2008
2. PROGRAMME MANAGER
1. Job Title: Programme Manager
2. Grade: R3
3. Level: Department head
4. Location: Mbabane, Swaziland with possible move to Nairobi or South Africa.
5. Duration: Three year contract renewable once (6Years)
6. Reporting to: Regional Coordinator
7. Requirements: Post graduate degree in health, nutrition, social sciences and other related field; have knowledge of all aspects of project: budgets, planning, reporting, project implementation plans and monitoring and evaluation; computer literacy (Power Point, MS Excel, MS Word and Internet); a keen interest and good understanding of IBFAN’s cause and regional work and good communication, writing and networking skills. Team player. A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities: Under the direction and general supervision of RC, she/he is charged with supporting the RC with supervision of staff, providing support to countries to integrate IBFAN issues into planning, develop implementation plans and report progress. Support the RC to coordinate the entire project budget, project implementation plans and mobilize resource for the programme through fundraising for Africa.

Specific duties include:
Supervision and support of other staff,
Conduct all aspects of IBFAN Africa programme in general (planning, researching, reporting, monitoring and evaluation-on all elements of programme eg. infant feeding in emergencies, HIV and infant feeding, maternity protection, BFHI, community support, global advocacy and other related aspects,)
Be able to apply all strategies necessary for coordination of regional programme, such as advocacy, capacity building and training, liaison with donors, proposal writing for fund raising; communication and networking with all groups, helping to expand IBFAN in the region,
Prepare annual programme of work for the RO; Preparation of annual budgets and periodic reports,
Maintain close contact with national coordinators and breastfeeding groups in member countries;
Be involved in training, documentation and research and materials development.
Facilitate the work of the IBFAN Africa Technical Working Groups.
Play a leading role in formulating research programmes on child health, nutrition, MTCT of HIV and related matters
Prepare funding proposals for submission to donors for IBFAN Africa.
Support to international advocacy activities, and
Perform any other duties assigned by the RC from time to time.
9. Salary: Negotiable depending on qualification and experience.
10. Commencement date: 1 January 2009
3. PROGRAMME OFFICER (LUSOPHONE) - (INTERNAL POSITION)
1. Job Title: Programme Officer- Lusophone
2. Grade: R2
3. Level: Mid level manager
4. Duration: 3 years renewable
5. Location: Mbabane, Swaziland or Nairobi or
South Africa.
6. Reporting to: Regional Coordinator
7. Requirements: A degree in health related field or social sciences; post graduate an advantage; have knowledge of all aspects of project: budgets, planning, reporting, project implementation plans and monitoring and evaluation; computer literacy (Power Point, MS Excel, MS Word and Internet); a keen interest and good understanding of IBFAN’s Promote Team work. A valid driver’s license cause and regional work and excellent communication, writing and networking skills,
8. Responsibilities: Under the supervision of RC and Programme manager, be responsible for communicating with Lusophone and sometimes Anglophone countries in the absence of Anglophone officer.
Conduct all aspects of IBFAN Africa programme in general (planning, researching, reporting, monitoring and evaluation-on all elements of programme eg. infant feeding in emergencies, HIV and infant feeding, maternity protection, BFHI, community support, global advocacy and other related aspects.)
Be able to apply all strategies necessary for coordination of regional programme, such as advocacy, capacity building and training, liaison with donors, proposal writing for fund raising.
Prepare funding proposals for submission to donors for IBFAN Africa Lusophone activities.
Coordinate the gathering of information from Lusophone countries for IBFAN Africa Newsletter, bulletin and other publications.
Carry advocacy activities with particular emphasis on Lusophone countries, and perform any other duties assigned by the RC from time to time.

4. RESOURCES MOBILISATION OFFICER
1. Job Title: Resources Mobilisation Officer
2. Grade: R2
3. Level: Mid level manager
4. Duration: 3 years renewable once (6 years)? THIS IS NOT CLEAR
5. Location: Mbabane, Swaziland with possible move to Nairobi or
South Africa.
6. Reporting to: Regional Coordinator
7. Requirements: A degree in Accounting or Business management; at least one years’ accounting experience, marketing/communication experience; good proposal writing and donor liaison skills a must; at least 2 years experience in project planning and implementation; good communication skills and corporate relations experience advantageous and passionate about working with breastfeeding or health related issues. A valid driver’s license.
8. Responsibilities: Under the supervision Regional Coordinator,
Develop, implement a resource mobilization strategy for IBFAN Africa and align it with goals of IBFAN Africa and its network.
Participate in project preparation and scoping
Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and supporters of the work of IBFAN.
Determine the required budget for the given year and for long term, identifying potential partners and building relationship with them,
Develop funding proposals; handle all sponsorship and donation queries in collaboration with the RC,
Arrange fundraising activities and events,
Manage, service and build existing accounts, and
Perform any other duties assigned by the RC from time to time.

5. INFORMATION OFFICER
1. Job Title: Information officer
2. Grade: L5/R1
3. Level: Mid level manager
4. Duration: 3 year’s contract renewable
5. Location: Mbabane, Swaziland with possible move to Nairobi or
South Africa.
6. Reporting to: Regional Coordinator
7. Requirements: University Degree or Diploma in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or equivalent professional work experience of not less than 2 years in the communication area, combined with a university degree/diploma in disciplines related to health and nutrition.
Two years progressively responsible professional work experience in communication, print and electronic/ broadcast media or interactive digital media.
General ability to communicate clearly and concisely; knowledge of computer systems, (internet; knowledge of website design an advantage,) Team player and a valid driver’s license.
8. Responsibility: Shall undertake the following duties:
Develop a strategy to get children’s and women’s issues into the public domain and strengthen political will in support of IBFAN Africa mission and objectives.
Develop work plans, implement effective communication and create public awareness of policies and activities and monitor their progress.
Maintain documentation, filling and archiving of the regional history and best practices in hard copies, pictures or any other acceptable form and ensure their wide dissemination.
Maintain regional mailing lists, a two way communication with the whole IBFAN network and its partners,
Work with Regional Coordinator to produce periodicals and reports to donors and partners; researching information and compile periodic publications for the organization.
Mobilise resources for public information, advocacy and communication strategies.
Edit the organisation’s website, and
Perform any other duties assigned by the RC from time to time.

6. PROGRAMME MANAGER
1. Job Title: Programme Manager (HIV and Infant Feeding)
2. Grade Consultant
3. Level: Temporary Position/Consultant
4. Duration: Fixed term
5. Location: Mbabane, Swaziland with possible move to Kenya or
South Africa.

Reporting to: Regional Coordinator

Requirements: Post Graduate qualification in nutrition, health (or equivalent qualification and experience) relevant field; be a person who is aware of regional programmes and understand the regionality of this HIV/infant feeding particular programme as required and the needed provisions; good organizational, interpersonal and managerial skills; knowledge of all aspects of project: budgets, planning, reporting, project implementation plans and monitoring and evaluation, and a keen interest and good understanding of IBFAN’s cause and regional work.
Computer literacy (Power Point, MS Excel, MS Word and Internet); good writing and networking skills.
Ability to handle pressure at any given time and
Evidence of previous project management, experience within an NGO or CBO environment and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the RC,
Spearhead the special programme on “Helping HIV-positive Parents in Africa to Make appropriate Infant Feeding decisions” programme in Tanzania, Zambia, Swaziland, Mozambique and Uganda.
Facilitate feasibility studies, baseline studies and data management for the programme.
Support countries to conduct national planning of the programme, and develop implementation plans.
Support national TOT training on 3-in-one and training of counselors.
Supervise national coordinators of the programme and maintain programme data.
Support the RC to coordinate the entire project budget, project implementation plans and mobilize resources for the programme.
Report to the RC about the progress of the programme.
